Colleen got a degree in nursing from the University of Rochester in MN. Her first job was working in the Houston VA with spinal injuries from Vietnam. She has served her community as a registered nurse and supervisor of nursing at Bonner General Hospital for 40 years. Colleen has lived by the tenet of caring; helping neighbors to get the healthcare they need, and being a familiar face for families during moments of joy and sorrow.
Community is rooted in connections. Connecting with each other is a choice we each make everyday. Colleen routinely connects with her community at monthly dinner and social gatherings, at the Heron Store ice cream social on Friday's, the Heron Senior dinners, and the Heron Gardener's educational events.
Community is commitment. We are not islands unto ourselves, we are interconnected. Community thrives and prospers because each person commits to lifting the community up. Colleen has always been committed to community health. She worked the night shift for over 25 years, driving 45 minutes to Sandpoint, Idaho whether the roads were plowed or not, to be available in the emergency room when her community needed her.
